Card Story:
That Person’s Relative (Faust, Arthur)

Card Episode: Thirty Students (Faust, Akira)

That Person’s Relative: Chapter 1

[Location: Vollmond Library, morning]

(school bell rings)

Faust: It's that time already... Class is about to start.

Faust: I need to get out of here, unless I want to put my attendance at risk.

Faust: ...No. I feel like this is a bad day to do that. I’ll get serious and get out tomorrow.

(footsteps)

???: Hmm… I wonder what I should say to Faust...

???: I’m sure he’ll be surprised if I suddenly barged in...

Faust: ...So noisy. Is that you, Arthur? What do you want from me?

Arthur: Y-Yes, that's right. I'm Arthur, a second year. I was wondering if you could help me with something regarding the student council...

Faust: I refuse. It’s none of my business.

Arthur: You're... right. I understand. Please excuse me...

(footsteps)

Faust: ...He’s gone.

Faust: Arthur is that guy's relative… the guy who made me coop up here. I want as little to do with him as possible.

(next day)

Arthur: I wonder if Faust is here again today... But I'm sure he won't like it if I call out to him…

(next day)

Arthur: Today's weather is perfect. Maybe I should invite Faust for a walk... But I think he’ll find it inconvenient.

(next day)

Faust: I don’t know why he keeps coming back everyday. And I can’t tell if he’s given up on wanting to talk to me or not. This guy... Did he even listen to what I said?

(footsteps)

Arthur: Sigh, here I am again. I'm afraid I'll be a nuisance to him if I keep doing this...

Faust: Speak of the devil... I don't know what he's brooding over. ...I guess I'll at least listen to him a little more.

Arthur: Maybe Faust really won't come out unless I have a cat with me...

Faust: ...Huh?

That Person’s Relative: Chapter 2

[Location: Vollmond Library, morning]

Arthur: Maybe Faust really won't come out unless I have a cat with me...

Faust: ...Huh?

Faust: How did he know I like cats? Did that person tell him?

Arthur: I heard that he loves cats so much that he once gave all of his lunch to a stray cat and spent an entire day feeling hungry...

Arthur: And it seems like there was also a time when he found a cat and immediately ran up to it, only to find out it was just a plastic bag...

Arthur: Ah. And I wonder if it's true that he didn't mind sleeping on the floor just so his cat can sleep on his bed?

(door opens)

Faust: ...E-Enough! Don’t say another word!

Arthur: Faust! You came out!

Faust: More like I was forced to...

Arthur: Is something wrong? Your face is red...

Faust: ...Forget it. More importantly, I'm guessing you visited me again to talk about the student council?

Arthur: Yes. I'm sorry if I keep bothering you like this, but I really wanted to ask your opinion, as my respected senior...

Faust: ...Fine.

Arthur: R-Really?! Thank you so much!

Faust: You'll just come back again if I continue turning you down, anyway.

Arthur: I wasn’t trying to barge in on you...

Faust: Do you even know how many times you came here? Good grief, your pushiness reminds me so much of that guy’s…

Card Episode: Thirty Students

[Location: Courtyard, morning]

Akira: Faust, you’re the Eastern wizards' teacher, aren’t you?

Faust: What about it?

Akira: At my school, one teacher handles thirty students. What would you do if you also have to teach that many people?

Faust: Thirty… students?

Akira: (He looks really uncomfortable…)

Faust: If I have to teach that many people, then I'll lock myself in my house.

Akira: (That’s truancy!)

Akira: But the students will be in trouble if their teacher doesn't come….

Faust: That's ten times the number of students I have now. How is it even possible to teach that many?

Akira: At the school I was in, students gather in one classroom as the teacher gives lectures.

Faust: That setup sounds efficient, but I have my doubts about its results.

Akira: Is that so?

Faust: If there are thirty people, then that means there will be thirty different ways of learning. Teaching all of them the same way will not let them grow at the same rate.

Faust: Each one of them is different in nature, so teaching materials and methods should vary from student to student. It's important to raise the class' average learning level, but as a teacher, finding out what will help each student is just as important, if not more…

Akira: (Hm… He’s a really good teacher…)

Faust:
What makes the school in our world different from yours? I can see that the uniforms are different…
