An Exciting Prank: Chapter 1
[Location: Town in Langrenus Island]
Shylock: Master Sage. What a coincidence.
Akira: Hi, Shylock. What are you up to?
Shylock: I have a little time on my hands, so I was smoking my pipe.
Shylock: If you have no other plans, would you perhaps join me for a conversation?
Akira: Sure! I’ll stand next to you, then.
Shylock: Thank you. Fufu, standing side by side on the corner of the street like this—it feels like we’re participants in a secret rendezvous.
Akira: I-It’s not a secret rendezvous…. Hm? The smell of mint… Are you smoking a blend of mint today?
Shylock: Oh, you knew? It’s a blend of mint and lime, and a little bit of kiwi.
Shylock: But in a town where the air is this horrid, even the most aromatic blend would still stink of metal and spent oil.
Akira: (Shylock looks so unsatisfied…. He did say he doesn’t favor magical science.)
(Riquet arrives)
Riquet: Shylock, here you are.
Akira: Hi, Riquet. What happened?
Riquet: Hello, Master Sage. Ugh, can you believe this!? Just now, Murr suddenly lit up a firework in the middle of the town….
Riquet: We almost got our cover blown. I was sure that we all knew we shouldn’t use magic on this island, after that long lecture before we departed!
Riquet: Shylock, you’re the Western wizards’ teacher, please say something to Murr.
Shylock: I didn’t know you regarded me so highly. My, what an honor.
Shylock: Unfortunately, I do not believe that I can provoke any change in him.
Shylock: If Murr was someone who listened to what I say, perhaps this town wouldn’t even exist in the first place.
Riquet: Don’t say that. If it happens again, there are no guarantees that we’ll be safe—
???: Woof!
Shylock: Oh?
Akira: What’s a dog doing in a place like this…?
Riquet: Meunière, you came with me?
Akira: Meunière? Riquet, do you know this dog?
Riquet: Yes, Murr called him Meunière. I saw him on the street earlier and played with him.
Riquet: He’s so well-behaved! And his fur feels so nice. It’s so soft! Come pet him, Master Sage.
Akira: Okay. …Wow, you’re right! It’s so soft… and he’s so cute!
Shylock: ….
Meunière: Woof!
(Meunière runs)
Riquet: Whoa, where are you going?
Akira: Hm? He’s looking our way, like he’s waiting for Riquet….

(Riquet runs)
Akira: There he goes….
Shylock: Fufu, he’s become a little more naughty, compared to when he first came to the magic manor.
Akira: You’re right. But I’m a little worried about letting him go alone in an unfamiliar town…. I’ll go with him!

[Location: Town in Langrenus Island]
Akira: Riquet, Meunière!
Riquet: Master Sage, why are you in a hurry? Could it be that you want to play with Meunière as well?
Riquet: Oh, that’s right. Meunière, can we show the Master Sage that place?
Meunière: Woof!
Akira: …?
Riquet: Over here, Master Sage!
Akira: This place….
We arrived at a small open space surrounded by flowering plants in the corner of an industrial area.
Akira: It’s so pretty….
Riquet: I think so too! Meunière showed this place to me earlier.
Meunière: Woof!
Riquet: Woah! Ahaha, you’re licking my face too much!
Akira: Meunière must’ve wanted to play with you, so he brought you here.
Riquet: Wanted to play with me…?
Riquet: Ehehe, I see. In that case, I will play with you a little longer….
Man: Oh, there you are.
Man: …Hm? Your outfit… Are you guys newbies? Sorry, but could you hand that dog over to me?
Riquet: Are you… the owner of this dog?
Man: Not really, but he’s—
Shylock: Master Sage, Riquet. I have been looking for you.
Akira: Shylock? What are you doing here…?
Shylock: Something caught my attention…. And who might this person be? An engineer from this island?
Shylock: Are you perhaps the one who made this dog’s prosthetic leg?
Man: Oh, you noticed? I’m doing research on prosthetic legs while working at that factory over there.
Riquet: Prosthetic leg…?
Shylock: Try touching his right hind leg. It appears very much like a real leg, but it is actually a prosthetic.
Akira: Really!? …Ah, you’re right. You’re really sharp, Shylock.
Shylock: I’m quite good at telling those kinds of things apart. Ah…. I see that you made use of magical science.
Man: I did. This little fella’s leg had always been weak since birth, so I fixed it. Now his hind legs are much better than his other body parts.
Man: I’m thinking of bringing this technology into the military so I worked to perfect it, and let the military use prosthetic armed limbs. How cool is that?
Akira: Military? Is it a technology to be used for wars…?
Man: Yeah, if the military utilizes it then the magical science and our military power will develop even further.
Man: And in the near future, our national forces will increase more than other countries’. I want to have the honor of being a part of that whole thing.
Meunière: Woof!
Man: There, there. You think so too, right? I’ll make you even better legs next time.
Akira and Riquet: ….
Shylock: …Possessing both excessive knowledge and unconstrained desire truly pushes someone away from common sense.
Shylock: Good heavens. Now I’m very much in the mood to complain to a certain someone who pioneered the field of magical science.
Man: That's right! You guys, lend me a hand! I’m stuck with the next design…
Man: You, mister handsome man, whaddaya ysay? I can tell from your outfit that you have good taste.
Shylock: I’m most honored to receive your compliment, but unfortunately, I’m not one you should be asking for engineering advice.
Shylock: But let’s see….
An Exciting Prank: Chapter 3
[Location: Town in Langrenus Island]
Shylock stepped closer to the man, then reached down to stroke Meunière’s neck as the dog sat at the man’s feet.. (help lol)
Shylock, using his magic: ….
Shylock: I hope you like this little gift from me.
Man: Is that… a collar?
Shylock: Yes.
Man: …How did you put those collars on him? Were you using magical science? Just… who are you?
Shylock: Oh, I’m no one… Just an insignificant newbie.
Akira: The man earlier was immensely interested in your magic, Shylock. I was sweating bullets wondering if he might figure you out.
Shylock: You don’t have to worry. I made sure to lead him away from that assumption.
Riquet: Master Sage….
Akira: What is it, Riquet?
Riquet: Was he a bad person?
Riquet: It is true that wars are deplorable….
Riquet: But if it wasn’t for that prosthetic leg he made, Meunière wouldn’t have been able to walk, let alone lead us all around the town.
Riquet: Please tell me, Master Sage. Was he a good or a bad person?
Akira: That’s….
Shylock: …I’m sure he’s neither good nor bad. I love people, and all else in this world, simply as they are, regardless of whether they’re good or bad.
Shylock: Something cannot be judged as either good or bad; it’s not possible. What’s most important is that you honestly accept what you feel without any pretense… Those are my thoughts, at least.
Meunière: Woof!
Shylock: Fufu, do you think the same, too?
Shylock: I almost forgot. I still have to thank you for taking us to this beautiful spot in the town.
Shylock: This is certainly a dull and undisciplined town. I shall at least turn this open space into something more splendiferous.
Shylock: < Inviebelle. >
The flowering plants responded to Shylock’s spell and began to grow in abundance. Fireworks popped around them, and from the dry fountain flowed clear water.
(sound of fireworks)
Akira and Riquet: Wow…!
Meunière: Woof!
Riquet: Master Sage, I’ll go play some more with Meunière!
Akira: Okay, be careful so you don’t trip!
(Riquet and Meunière runs)
Shylock: Fufu, both of them are running around happily. Did you like it as well, Master Sage?
Akira: Yes, it’s very beautiful!
Akira: Ah, but… Shouldn’t we refrain from using magic around here?
Shylock: Master Sage, did you forget?
Shylock: I’m a Western wizard, and a little mischief makes my heart dance.
Shylock: To prove it to you, I shall adorn this venue with even more extravagance.

Card Episode: The One Attached to Him
[Location: Hallway, day]
Shylock: Master Sage, what an adorable thing you have in your arms. Is it a stuffed dog?
Akira: Yes, I found it in the Central market, so I thought of giving it to Riquet as a gift...
Akira: Since he looked sad after we said goodbye to Meunière at Langrenus Island.
Shylock: He did seem to like Riquet quite a lot.
Akira: Yes. I think he liked you a lot, too, though.
Akira: Do animals easily grow attached to you, Shylock?
Shylock: If you’re talking about a certain unpredictable, irresponsible cat around the manor that does anything as he pleases, then perhaps yes.
Akira: (Unpredictable, irresponsible cat that does anything as he pleases? Is there really one that’s that difficult around here…?)
Shylock: Any humor aside, I believe I’m not avoided, at least.
Akira: Animals must be comfortable being around you because you're always so gentle. Somehow I picture you being good at winning them over.
Shylock: In that case, would you let me try to win you over?
Akira: Uh.
Shylock: Now, now, don’t be afraid. Here, please lean on me.
Akira: I-I think my heart will act up so no thank you!
