A Special You On A Special Night: Chapter 1
[Location: Talbott Estate Party]
That day, I was attending the party held at the castle we were requested to investigate. The wizards who came with me seemed to be enjoying themselves.
Akira: (Hm? That’s…)
Black Cat: Mrow. Meow, meooow.
Akira: C’mere, sweetie. You’re so cute… Where did you come from?
Black Cat: Take a guess.
Akira: Hmm, maybe from the forest around here… Wait, you can talk!?
(Cat turns into Murr)
Murr: My prank’s a big success, woohoo!
Akira: Murr!?
Murr: Ahaha! Master Sage, your eyes’re as round as a ball!
Akira: I really didn’t think the black cat was you all along…
Murr: Then to make it even, you can prank me next time, Master Sage!
Akira: Huh?
Murr: Can’t wait to see the most fab, whack, craaazy prank you can think of!
(Murr runs off)
Akira: Ah, wait a minute, Murr! …There he goes.
Akira: A prank, huh…
Akira: (So I need to come up with a prank to surprise him… But what would even be a surprise to Murr? This is a difficult challenge…)
Mitile: Master Sage, trick or treat! Ehehe, which will it be?
Akira: A trick… A trick…
Mitile: Huh? Do you want tricks?
Mitile: I’m sorry, I thought I could get some sweets from you, so I didn’t prepare any trick!
Akira: (Hm?)
Akira: Ah, sorry! I was thinking about something, so I didn’t listen to you properly.
Mitile: Something…? If you have any problems, you’re welcome to talk to me about them. I’ll do my best to help you!
Akira: Mitile… Thank you, your words just gave me strength.

After briefly explaining the circumstances I was in, Mitile folded his hands and let out a small groan.
Mitile: That’s difficult… Mister Murr will probably see right through common tricks.
Akira: You’re right. I think that goes for all the Western wizards, but I feel like Murr is especially good at pranks and tricks.
Murr is pretty much a professional at them. He’s not one an amateur like me can hope to compare.
Mitile: …Oh, right! How about this: you sneak up on him from behind, and—
???: BOO!

A Special You On A Special Night: Chapter 2
[Location: Talbott Estate Party]
Mitile: Mister Murr!
When I turned around, I found Murr dangling upside down from the chandelier.
Murr: Ahaha! Master Sage and Mitile always give the best reactions, I love it!
Akira: More importantly, are you okay hanging from that high, Murr? What if you fall…
Murr: I’m okay! What about you, Master Sage? Didja already come up with a trick for me?
Akira: A-About that…
Mitile: Mister Murr, you’re an expert at these things, but coming up with a trick is more difficult than it sounds, you know?
Akira: Yes, coming up with tricks isn’t something I usually do, so I haven’t thought of one yet.…
Murr: It’s boring to think about the same thing every day, right?
Murr: I’ll be waiting for your trick at the courtyard! Remember: the most fab, whack, craaaazy, topsy-turvy trick!
Akira: (He’s raising the bar!?)
Murr: Trick or treat!
Murr winked, and once again instantly disappeared from our sight.
Akira: (Why do I feel like they’re saying ‘trick or treat’ in any way they please…)
Akira: …Ah, that reminds me! Mitile, you asked me for a trick or treat, but I haven’t given you any candy.
Akira: I only have this one from the party, if you’d like it.
I reached for my pockets, and gave Mitile a candy in a golden pink wrapper.
Mitile: Waa, thank you very much! I’ll eat it immediately!
Mitile: Nom… !? I-It’s so sour.
Akira: Sour?
Akira: (What does he mean? I’ll try one and see for myself.)
Akira: …So spicy!
Mitile: Huh?
Akira: The one I’m having is so spicy—like I’m eating raw chili!
Mitile: W-What’s happening? Mine was as sour as vinegar….
Figaro: Oh? What’s all the panic about?
Akira: Ah, Figaro. We’re…
When Figaro’s gaze fell on my hand, he nodded as if he already understood the situation.
Figaro: Oh, so it’s because of that candy. What flavors did you two get? Was it bitter? Sour? Did it hurt?
Mitile: Sour and spicy. Geez, Doctor Figaro, did you have to laugh at us so hard?
Figaro: Sorry, sorry. Both of your reactions are so adorable I couldn’t help it.
Akira: Do you know something about this candy, Figaro?
Figaro: It’s a topsy-turvy candy well-known in the West. It looks like your normal everyday candy, but when you eat it, it can be bitter or spicy, depending on which one you got.
Figaro: In the end, it’s only ever used to prank people, so it’s probably pretty weird for somebody to eat it on their own.
Akira: So candies like that exist… I guess that’s the Western Country for y— Ah!
Akira: (...Maybe I can use this candy?)
A Special You On A Special Night: Chapter 3
[Location: Talbott Estate courtyard, evening]
I went out to the courtyard, and found Murr gazing at the thin curve of the crescent moon hanging above in the sky.
Akira: Trick or treat!
Murr: Master Sage! You ready to trick me now?
Akira: Yeah. Here, you can take this.
When I handed him the candy from earlier, the corner of Murr’s lips turned upwards.
Murr: Oh, so this is your idea of a ‘trick’?
Akira: Sorry if it was too obvious, I’m just a beginner…
I could only laugh wryly, and Murr threw the candy into his mouth as he gave me a sidelong glance.
Murr: …Oomph? It’s sweet!
Murr: It’s as sweet as a normal candy! What’s this?
Akira: Ahaha, so you really do know about the topsy-turvy candy.
Akira: I thought so, and that’s why I wrapped an ordinary candy with that golden pink wrap.
Akira: If the candy in that wrapping turns out to taste like a normal candy, I thought that you might be surprised.
Murr: …Amazing!
Murr: Your trick’s fantastic, Master Sage! It’s normal for a candy to be sweet, but this time, the normal isn’t to be sweet! That’s fun!
Murr took my hand. Before I realized it, he had placed me on his broom, and I was launched high into the sky along with him.
[Location: Starry sky]
Akira: Murr!? Wait, my heart’s not ready yet…!
Akira: (Huh? Usually he’d go faster than this… This is a rather peaceful speed.)
Murr: Ahaha! Did I surprise you?
Akira: …To be honest, yeah, I’m surprised you’re flying at a safe speed. Your flights are usually so… thrilling, so to speak.
Murr: Oh, so you want more thrill? Should we go for five loops in the air?
Akira: Thank you for the offer but I prefer staying this way please!
Akira: Anyway, tonight was a really topsy-turvy night. I pulled a trick on you, and now I’m flying slowly on your broom…
Murr: We haven’t even done a somersault and a nosedive, and yet you’re surprised!
Murr: And before that, I was surprised at the sweet candy!
Akira: Ahaha, strange, isn’t it? If I told someone about tonight, it wouldn't sound like something out of the ordinary.
The characteristically round moon was hiding most of its body somewhere far, far away from us. The lukewarm wind brushed my cheeks on this still, odd, and special night.
Akira: (Maybe Murr was right; it’s fun when what’s normal becomes abnormal.)
Murr: My beloved moon is showing a different face tonight. So Master Sage, show me more of your different faces!
Card Episode: His Next Target
[Location: Manor’s courtyard, night]
Akira: Hi, Murr. Did you come to see the moon?
Murr: Uh-huh! You wanna see it with me?
Murr: Or should we take a flight in the sky tonight? I’ll blast my broom ten times the usual speed for ten times the fun!
Akira: M-Maybe next time… Ah, the party we attended the other day was really fun, wasn’t it? It felt different from any other parties we’ve had.
Murr: It was ultra fun! You played me so good I think it opened new doors in me!
Akira: I feel like people will easily misunderstand when you put it like that? But yes, usually you’re the one who pulls pranks on me.
Murr: I like setting up pranks and being pranked! It thrilled me to see you and Mitile thinking up one! It’s a real special sight!
Murr: Who should I ask next? Maybe Oz?
Akira: Oz!? That’s a little too much, don’t you think?
Murr: Then Mithra! Or Owen?
Akira: (Asking them for pranks? That’s more like asking for trouble!)
Akira: I’ll do it! How about I set up a prank again for you next time? Will that be okay with you?
Murr: Ahaha! Master Sage, did setting up pranks open new doors for you? Can’t wait to see your all-new prank!
Akira: (Aah… I need to come up with a new idea somehow!)

Murr: Being the usual me is fun, but being another me is twice the fun! Tomorrow I’ll be the Murr who’s considerate to his friends, and the next day I’ll be a naughty Murr. Now, what Murr will I be the day after that? If I can be any Murr you want, what kind of Murr wouldya like me to be, Master Sage?
