Cursing Ritual: Chapter 1 | Chapter 2 | Card Episode: The Life of A Maledictor
Cursing Ritual: Chapter 1
[Location: Manor courtyard, dusk]
Shino: It’s almost dinner. I’ll train a bit until then.
Shino: Hm? Is that Faust?
Shino: ...His mirror is shining. He’s using magic?
(rustling sounds)
Shino: Ah!
Faust: ...Spying is not really admirable, Shino.
Shino: I was not. I just came here and you were using magic, that’s all.
Faust: ...Is that so.
Shino: What were you doing?
Faust: ...Cursing. Someone hired me to put a curse on someone.
Shino: A curse....
Faust: But what should we do? This curse will bring a problem if seen by others.
Shino: What problem?
Faust: Whoever saw the ritual will also get cursed.
Faust: ...Too bad, Shino.
Shino: You shouldn’t have held such a dangerous ritual in a place like this.
Faust: I think it’s about time for my curse to stir something up in your stomach.
Faust: Don’t you feel somewhat uncomfortable?
Shino: ….
Shino: ...I do. My stomach feels weird.
Shino: Hey, what kind of curse was this, anyway?
Faust: I wonder.
Shino: ...How do I dispel it?
Faust: You think I’d tell you?
Shino: You nasty maledictor.
Shino: ...Don’t mess with me. I can’t die in a place like this, not now.
Shino: I’ll counter magic with magic. Magic to break a curse…
Shino: ...Ugh! My stomach, it suddenly…!
Cursing Ritual: Chapter 2
[Location: Manor courtyard, dusk]
Shino: My stomach‘s twisting….
Faust: ...Shino.
(stomach rumbling sound)
Shino: Huh?
Faust: ...Pfft, haha! That’s one loud rumble.
Shino: Just now, was that my stomach?
Faust: We’re the only ones here, and it’s certainly not mine.
Shino: Did you put something in my stomach with that curse?
Faust: No way. I was only kidding.
Faust: I just wanted to tease you, since you interfered with my work.
Faust: Though I didn’t think you’d actually believe it.
Faust: You’re still a child, I see.
Shino: Kidding? Tease? ...So I’m not cursed?
Faust: I won’t have such a hard time if it was that easy to put a curse on someone.
Shino: ...You’re really horrible.
Faust: To a maledictor, that sounds like a compliment, so thanks.
Faust: Or could it be that you really want to be cursed?
Shino: As if.
Shino: Can’t believe you’re supposed to be the Eastern wizards' teacher. Heath got completely fooled by you.
Faust: Did you say something?
Shino: Nothing.
Faust: Alright. Then, let’s head to the dining hall.
Faust: Seems like a certain someone needs his stomach filled.
Card Episode: The Life of A Maledictor
[Location: Faust’s room]
Akira: Faust, how long have you been a maledictor?
Faust: Not sure. I don’t remember.
Akira: Is it around the time you retired to the Eastern Country after a certain incident happened?
Faust: Don’t call it ‘a certain incident’. Now that I think about it… I might have not done anything for the first ten or twenty years.
Faust: I helped a wizard who was on the brink of death, and he asked for a favor. I think that was my first task about 300 years ago.
Akira: I see you’ve had your shop open for a long time…
Faust: It’s not like I put up a sign that says ‘I curse people’. People know about me from words of mouth, and came to me on their own.
Faust: The rewards from that kept me self-sufficient.
Akira: By self-sufficient, you mean you plow the field, and raise livestock?
Faust: Yeah. There’s a stream near my hiding place, so I never have to worry about not getting fish.
Akira: (That sounds more like an eco life rather than the life of a maledictor…)
Akira: Is the reward that big that you can live by just a few requests?
Faust: Yeah. Though, before I can even name my price, my customers already offer a high reward by themselves.
Faust: I don’t put up signs, let alone promotions. Despite that, every year a few people still came to me with a request. There’s just that many people who want to curse somebody else.
Faust, smiling: If you ever want to curse someone, just tell me. Only if you can pay the high price, though.
